Chocolate has been produced in Bern since 1750, so the city of Bern is considered the chocolate capital of Switzerland.
The conche developed in Bern made it possible to produce Bernese melting chocolate, which became established worldwide.
The façade of the building at Wasserwerkgasse 2 is still a reminder of Bern's important chocolate past.
