This special offer takes you on a journey through the history of chocolate, which was written in Switzerland’s federal capital. During a chocolate and schnapps tasting in the legendary Matte district, we will raise our glasses to the chocolaty side of Bern. This is the perfect way to conclude this unique time travel adventure.
We will meet at Bear Square in front of the Prison Tower. From there, we will walk through the Old Town to the Matte district. Along the way, we will stop at the places where Tobler, Bloch, and Wander once began their careers. As you listen to the stories about these chocolate pioneers, you will have the chance to taste the corresponding chocolate. The Matte, Bern’s oldest neighborhood, is located on the riverside of the Aare and is the birthplace of modern chocolate.

It was in a mill that Rodolphe Lindt developed his Chocolat Fondant. Right next door, on the Mill Square, is the Matte Distillery. At this historic site, you will enjoy a tasting of the distillery’s award-winning spirits paired with the best Swiss chocolate. Such a harmonious finale is sure to make your heart melt.
We will meet at Bear Square in front of the Prison Tower. From there, we will walk through the Old Town to the Matte district.     Thanks to the protective arcades in Bern’s Old Town, the tour can take place regardless of the weather. However, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended.
